Crackdown on Dangerous Car Meets in the City and Nearby Districts
Law-abiding car fans beware: a small but reckless minority is ruining it for everyone. Recent car meets have spiralled out of control with street racing, loud engines, and risky driving that’s putting spectators and the public in serious danger.
Police Launch Tough New Clampdown
Authorities say they won’t stand for it. There’s a robust plan in place, with extra resources targeted at bringing chaos-causing drivers to book.
- Seizing vehicles involved in illegal behaviour
- Issuing penalty notices
- Notifying companies over dodgy car mods
- Serving dispersal orders to shut down troublemakers
- Arrests and prosecutions when necessary
Officers will use mobile and static cameras, plus drones, to catch offenders and gather evidence – even after the event.
Acting Superintendent Issues Stark Warning
“The public’s safety is always our priority and we will take any action necessary to put a stop to dangerous driving, risky manoeuvres and any associated anti-social behaviour,” said Acting Superintendent Ricky Dhanda.
“If you drive dangerously – speeding, racing, or drifting close to bystanders – we can seize your car and arrest you. Don’t take that risk.”
“If you see this behaviour, report it. Don’t let a few rogues spoil it for the law-abiding majority.”
Community Call to Action
The police assure local communities they’re keeping a close eye on intel, working with partners and landowners. Event organisers are reminded they must get permission from landowners and councils before holding meets.
If you have info on illegal activities, call the police on 101. For emergencies, dial 999.
