Thief Swipes Handbag in Brazen Andover School Raid

Police are hunting a man who snatched a purse during a burglary at an Andover school.

Burglar Targets Education Centre After School Hours

At around 4:30pm on Wednesday, March 16, a man broke into The Education Centre on Smannell Road. He searched an office and stole a claret-coloured purse from a staff member’s handbag. The purse featured a distinctive design with small blue and green flowers and held £30 cash, credit cards, and precious photos.

Suspect Description and Distinctive Outfit

The thief, described as a white man about 6ft tall with an average build, calmly walked away from the centre toward Smannell Road. He wore a green jacket with two breast pockets, blue jeans, light trainers, and a bobble hat. The hat was dark with light-coloured stars and a large, dark bobble — a standout detail that might catch the eye.

Police Appeal: Did You Spot Him?

PC Sarah Warner of Andover police said, “The man wore a particularly distinctive hat and may have stood out to someone returning home along Smannell Road that day. We would also like to hear from anyone who can help establish the man’s direction of travel.”

If you recognise this man or have any info, contact Andover police immediately.
