Burglary Spree Terrorises Hartford Village

A string of brazen burglaries has rocked the sleepy village of Hartford near Northwich. Cheshire Police are on the hunt after multiple homes and sheds were raided in the dead of night, leaving locals rattled and on edge.

Late-Night Burglars Target Sheds, Bikes and Freezers

Over the weekend and in recent weeks, thieves have struck between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM, focusing on sheds and outbuildings. One victim, speaking out on Facebook, revealed their shed was broken into in the early hours of Wednesday, 19 March. The intruder made off with a prized road bike, booze, and meat plus frozen food from a chest freezer.

“We know he walked down Landswood Park at about 2:40 AM, came into our property, and left across the little green,” the victim reported. “Please check your CCTV. Even a glimpse could help.”

The post has gone viral on local groups, sparking neighbours to hunt through security footage and share any suspicious activity with police.

Police Appeal for CCTV and Community Rallies

Cheshire Police are probing several related incidents and suspect a lone individual travelling on foot. They believe the thief uses greenspaces to slip unnoticed between properties.

“We are investigating a number of break-ins in Hartford and urge anyone with CCTV or doorbell camera footage, especially from early mornings, to get in touch,” a police spokesperson said. “These crimes are causing real concern and we are determined to catch whoever is responsible.”

Hartford Residents Fight Back

In response, the village has ramped up its neighbourhood watch efforts. Locals are sharing tips, sightings and safety advice through social media and installing extra lighting, stronger locks, and security cameras.

“It’s terrifying knowing someone is prowling near our homes at night,” one resident said. “But the community spirit has been brilliant – we’re looking out for each other.”
