Blaze Breaks Out at Hove Bungalow – Suspected Arson
A fire ripped through a bungalow on Hallyburton Road, Hove, on the evening of January 7, 2024. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) scrambled to the scene after a call came in at 8.25pm, with witnesses reporting thick smoke billowing from the property.
Firefighting Efforts in Full Force
Within an hour, four fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, and multiple officers were on site. Fire crews battled the flames using six breathing apparatus sets, two hose reels, and a main jet to bring the fire under control.
By 10pm, ESFRS confirmed all residents were safe. Firefighters focused on damping down hot spots to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.
Arrest Made as Police Probe Blaze
Police revealed the fire caused only minor damage and no injuries. A 40-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
