Ilford Police Chase Ends in Crash, Hospital, and Arrest
A stolen car chase in Green Lane, Ilford, exploded into chaos on Thursday, May 15. Metropolitan Police swooped on a suspected stolen vehicle at around 11:15am, triggering a high-octane pursuit that left several cars smashed and the suspect in hospital.
Suspect Rams Police Before Fleeing Scene
Officers spotted the stationary stolen vehicle and approached it, but the driver rammed a police car and took off at speed. The chase saw the runaway crash into multiple stationary and moving vehicles, causing havoc on the streets.
Driver Hospitalised, Faces Multiple Charges
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was finally stopped and arrested. He was rushed to hospital, where police say his injuries are serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.
He has been arrested on suspicion of several offences, including:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Dangerous driving
- Two counts of assaulting emergency workers
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
