Woman Attacked in Early Morning Jesmond Horror
Northumbria Police detectives are hunting a masked attacker after a 20-year-old woman was assaulted near Osborne Road, Jesmond, Newcastle, just after 3.20am on Sunday. The victim was walking along St George’s Terrace when a man in a balaclava tried to drag her to the ground.
Brave Victim Fights Off Masked Assailant
In a desperate struggle, the woman managed to break free and escape. The attacker fled, leaving the victim shaken but safe. Police say she is receiving support as they launch a full investigation into the terrifying attack.

Detective Inspector Ben McIntosh praised the victim’s bravery and vowed to bring the culprit to justice. He urged anyone who saw the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to get in touch — even small details could be crucial.
“This is a worrying incident,” McIntosh said. “We are determined to find the offender quickly.”
