Five Arrested Across UK in Terror Sweep
The Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested a total of five men nationwide. Besides the Swindon suspect, others were caught in London, Stockport, Rochdale, and Manchester. All five face suspicion of preparing a terrorist act.
Later, armed officers raided a property linked to the probe on Manchester Road, Swindon, leading to a temporary road closure.
Iranian Nationals in Custody Under Terror Law
Four of the men, including the Swindon suspect, are Iranian nationals held under the Terrorism Act (TACT). All remain in police custody for questioning.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed the arrests relate to a plot targeting a specific site, which remains undisclosed for security reasons. Authorities are liaising directly with the affected premises to offer advice and support.
