The pair were nominated by the Hampshire Police Federation for their gutsy role in the 2018 Bembridge care home siege. Despite being repeatedly attacked, PC Bartle and Chase helped apprehend a violent, armed man in a high-stakes showdown.

PC Bartle’s bravery isn’t new. In 2017, she saved a vulnerable woman from a cliff edge. Earlier this year, she earned a Certificate of Commendation for her role during the Bembridge siege.

National Recognition Beckons

The Police Bravery Awards, now in their 24th year, honour England and Wales’ most courageous officers both on and off duty. Last year’s winners included the late PC Keith Palmer GM and PC Charlie Guenigault GM.

Alex Charge, chair of the Hampshire Police Federation, praised the duo: “Kelly and PD Chase are an incredible team who thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

John Apter, National Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, added: “Many nominees put their lives on the line to help others. I’m proud to represent the Police Federation at this event celebrating the very best in policing.”

The awards ceremony will take place on 18th July, with 71 officers nationwide expected to attend.
