Jewellery Thieves Strike Twice in Godinton, Ashford

Burglars have hit two homes in the Godinton area of Ashford, stealing valuable jewellery in both raids. The first break-in happened at 7.45pm on 21 September 2021, when thieves ransacked a property and made off with precious items.

The crooks struck again less than two weeks later, between 1.20pm and 3.20pm on 30 September, targeting another nearby home and snatching more jewellery.

Police Urge Locals to Speak Up

Detective Constable Sophie West is on the case and appeals for anyone with information to come forward. She said:

“These offences are under investigation and I urge anyone with information about either incident to call kent-police/">Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/183720/21.”

You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.

“Becoming the victim of a burglary is extremely rare, but offences such as these, where jewellery is stolen, can have a long-term impact on victims.”

“As the evenings grow darker, we urge everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.”

Easy Steps to Stop Burglars in Their Tracks

Police remind residents to take simple precautions to make their homes harder targets:

  • Install a burglar alarm and stash valuables in a high-quality safe fixed to a wall or floor.
  • Store jewellery and family heirlooms in a bank safety deposit box.
  • Use timer switches on lights and radios to give the impression someone’s home. Keep valuables out of sight from windows.
  • Photograph and insure your expensive or unique items, and register them free on the national Immobilise database.

Don’t let thieves spoil your peace of mind this autumn. Stay alert and protect your prized possessions now.
