Seventh Arrest in Ashford Town Centre Knife Disturbance
A 19-year-old man has become the seventh person arrested following a violent disruption in Ashford town centre. Kent Police were called to County Square just after 1.30pm on Tuesday, 4 February 2020, after reports of a disturbance between two groups.
Weapon-Wielding Gangs Scare Ashford
Witnesses reported seeing some individuals carrying weapons before they scattered. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the chaos. Police quickly launched a search with help from the National Police Air Service.
- A 26-year-old man
- Four 17-year-old boys
- An 18-year-old man—all from Ashford—were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody.
- The latest arrest, a 19-year-old Ashford man, was made on the morning of Wednesday, 5 February.
Three knives were recovered at the scene. Officers believe all involved know each other.
Police Clampdown Continues
“We take robust action against those involved in threatening behaviour and those who cause fear in our communities,” said Superintendent Simon Thompson. “Patrols will remain in the town centre as part of their daily duties, should anyone wish to provide further information regarding the disturbance.”
