Teen Arrested After Daring Motorcycle Theft in Chatham
A motorbike theft in broad daylight triggered a police chase and a swift arrest last Sunday morning in Chatham.
Brazen Theft Outside Home
At around 10 a.m. on May 29, 2022, two riders on a moped pulled up beside a parked motorcycle near Magpie Hall Road. One of the pair quickly jumped off, snatched the bike, and both sped off before anyone could stop them.
Chase Leads to Arrest in Dartford
Police sprang into action, tracking the stolen bike for about an hour to Hill Rise, Dartford. A foot pursuit followed, ending with the capture of a 17-year-old local lad matching the suspects’ description.
- A second stolen moped was recovered at the scene.
- Both stolen vehicles were returned to their owners.
Teen Released Pending Inquiry
The Swanscombe teen was held on suspicion of stealing both bikes but has since been released while investigations continue.
