New Café Opens in Stunning Mote Park
A brand-new café has just opened its doors in the heart of Mote Park, offering visitors a perfect spot to relax and soak up breathtaking views across 440 acres of lush woodland and grassland.
Tasty Treats on Tap Seven Days a Week
Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) has teamed up with Riverside Catering to run the café, which serves a tempting menu of hot and cold drinks, light bites, and snacks. The café is open daily from 9am, with plans to roll out an extensive menu in the coming weeks.
Part of a £4.3 Million Park Transformation
This café and new Learning Centre mark the second phase of MBC’s £4.3 million redevelopment of Mote Park. Future upgrades will include improvements to the toilet block and kiosk near the lake and water sports centre.
Council and Caterers Praise the Park’s New Hub
William Cornall, Director of Regeneration and Place at MBC, said: “It’s fantastic to see the new Mote Park café ready to welcome visitors. The panoramic views of the stunning parkland are simply unbeatable.”
“Mote Park is a jewel in Maidstone’s crown, boasting green flag status and hosting countless events each year – from festivals and concerts to charity fun runs and live music. This new café adds even more to its appeal.”
“Maidstone Borough Council is committed to investing in the park to keep it top-notch for residents and visitors alike.”
Robert Kirk, Riverside Managing Director, added: “We’re thrilled to open this bright new facility in such a fantastic location. Having run the kiosk since 2022, we’ve got to know the park and its regulars.”
“Our café will serve meals, snacks, and drinks throughout the day, every day. We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and newcomers to enjoy what Mote Park offers.”
“The recent improvements have truly made Mote Park a shining jewel in Maidstone’s crown.”
Facilities Boost and Accessibility for All
The new building also houses estate services, public toilets—including a Changing Places facility for people with limited mobility—and a flexible space available year-round for local schools and community groups to hire.
Upgraded landscaping and new pathways connect the café to the car park, which now boasts extra bicycle parking. Demolition of the old café, toilet block, and offices has opened up beautiful new views of the lake.
