UK Teen Brutally Attacked by Six Men in Malia, Crete – Family Issues Warning
A British family has issued a stark warning to holidaymakers after their 18-year-old son was savagely attacked in Malia, Crete. The shocking assault happened in the early hours of Sunday, July 13.
Teen Ambushed at 4am
The teenager was walking with a friend around 4am when a car screeched to a halt beside them. Six men jumped out and launched a brutal, unprovoked attack on the teen. His mother described the horror:
“They absolutely battered him, breaking his nose. His friend ran for help, but it was too late.”
The victim was rushed to hospital for a CT scan. Thankfully, there was no internal injury, but the broken nose and trauma left the family shaken.
Spike in Violence Raises Alarm
Hospital staff revealed this was the third similar attack in just one week. Allegedly, groups of men from mainland Greece are targeting young tourists in Malia.
“This was completely unprovoked. A very ugly side of an otherwise beautiful island,” said the mother. “Apparently, the police are aware — but who knows. People need to be aware this is going on.”
Teen Recovering Back in the UK
The teen has now returned home to the UK and is on the mend, though his mother warns recovery will take time.
Family Urges Caution for Crete Visitors
The family is calling on all young tourists heading to Crete to stay alert, especially late at night—even if in pairs or small groups.
“Please share to raise awareness. Be careful — he wasn’t on his own, and it still happened.”
Official Response Pending
Local authorities have yet to comment publicly on the attacks. The UK Foreign Office advises travellers to stay vigilant in nightlife hotspots, though no specific warning for Malia has been issued so far.
