Man Fights for Life After Being Hit by Lorry in East Worldham
A 35-year-old man is in critical condition after a heavy goods vehicle smashed into him in East Worldham. The shocking crash happened on the B3004 Green Street just outside Alton.
HGV Crushes Pedestrian, Victim Trapped Under Lorry
Paramedics rushed to the scene and treated the man before Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance airlifted him to Southampton General Hospital. He had become trapped beneath the lorry during the collision, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
Lorry Driver Arrested for Dangerous Driving
The driver, a 38-year-old man from Tamworth, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving. The road was shut for over five hours as police launched a full investigation into the horror crash.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Hampshire Roads Policing Unit at Havant is urging anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. A Hampshire Police spokesman said:
“We are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision at East Worldham near Bordon on Friday 21 July. A Scania HGV collided with a pedestrian on Green Street, the B3004, at 3.05pm. The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man, is being treated at Southampton General Hospital for life-threatening injuries. The HGV driver, a 38-year-old from Tamworth, has been arrested and remains in police custody.”
Police investigations continue as the community waits anxiously for updates on the victim’s condition.
