Tragic Death After High-Speed A13 Crash in Newham
A 24-year-old man has died following a serious crash on the A13 in Newham last week. The smash happened near Newham Way and Noel Road at about 8.30pm on Monday, 30 June.
Speeding Car Ploughs Into Bollard and Tree
The Metropolitan Police say the vehicle left the road at high speed, hitting a bollard and then a tree before overturning. Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene.
The driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital. Despite heroic efforts from medical teams, he sadly passed away on Saturday, 5 July. His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Man Arrested Over Dangerous Driving
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the crash site on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail while police carry on with their investigation.
The London-bound A13 was shut for over 12 hours and reopened around 8.30am the next day as forensics combed the scene.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“At 20:28hrs on Monday, 30 June, police were called to Noel Road at the junction with Newham Way following reports of a vehicle crashing into a bollard and tree, then overturning. The driver, a 24-year-old man, was taken to hospital but sadly died on 5 July. His next of kin have been informed. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
