Brighton Man Caught in Stolen Goods Sting

A 45-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 14th February, after Trading Standards uncovered what they suspect are stolen items during a raid in Brighton.

Cadbury’s Mini Eggs and Hot Chocolate Powder Seized

Officers were spotted loading bags marked “Hot chocolate powder” along with Cadbury’s Mini Eggs from the premises. The raid took place at Family Shopper, 20 St James’ Street.

Police Back Up Trading Standards, Suspect in Custody

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called to support Trading Standards at a shop in St James’s Street in Brighton at around 1:15pm on Tuesday, 14 February. A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and remains in custody.”

Officers remained at the scene until at least 7:30pm that evening.

Council Confirms Large Haul of Suspected Stolen Goods

A council spokesperson added: “During an inspection at Family Shopper, our Trading Standards team found a large number of items they suspected of being stolen. They called the police and handed the scene over.”

The arrested man is still being held as investigations continue.
