A 30-year-old man has been arrested after a stabbing at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton sparked a major police operation on Sunday morning.
Staff Member Stabbed in Shocking Attack
Police were called to the hospital at 8:42am on 19 July after reports that a hospital staff member had been stabbed. The victim, a 56-year-old man, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. His family has been informed.
Police Snap Into Action, Secure Hospital
Officers and hospital security quickly secured the hospital site to keep staff and patients safe. Following a thorough search, a 30-year-old suspect was caught at nearby Wilson Avenue just under an hour later at 9:40am. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody.
No Terror Links, Investigation Ongoing
Authorities said the incident appears isolated with no terrorism links. There’s no evidence anyone else was involved or is at risk. The hospital’s precautionary search is now wrapping up. Police thanked staff and patients for their patience and cooperation during the tense morning.
