Firefighters in Charlton pulled off a daring rescue after a man got trapped in a collapsed trench at a construction site. Specially trained Urban Search and Rescue teams, alongside regular crews, rushed to the scene to save the trapped worker.

The emergency call came in at 12:29 pm. Firefighters immediately began digging through sand and clay to reach the man while stabilising the trench to stop further collapse. The intense operation lasted over six hours, with crews working tirelessly until 6:47 pm.
Firefighters teamed up with the London Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team, ensuring the trapped man got medical attention as soon as he was freed.
Man Hospitalised, Police & Safety Experts Investigate
Once rescued, paramedics rushed the man to hospital for urgent treatment. The Metropolitan Police and Health and Safety Executive have taken over the site to investigate what caused the collapse.
