Man Rushed to Hospital After Suspected Drug Overdose at Newport Morrisons

A man was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight today after collapsing outside Morrisons in Newport.

Collapsed After Being Ejected from Store

The incident unfolded when store security asked the man to leave Morrisons. Moments later, he collapsed on site. Two first aid-trained fundraisers and store security sprang into action to help.

Paramedics Initially Treat for Heart Attack

Isle of Wight Ambulance crews arrived swiftly and treated the man at the scene. It was first believed he had suffered a heart attack.

Drug Overdose Confirmed

After further checks, it emerged the man had overdosed on a substance. He was quickly taken to St Mary’s Hospital for urgent treatment.
