Man in His 20s Stabbed in Southampton – Police Launch Major Hunt
Chaos erupted in Southampton on Thursday evening after a young man was critically stabbed on Laburnum Road. At around 6pm, police got a frantic call reporting the violent attack. The victim, in his 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital fast. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance scrambled to the scene to help save him.
Clampdown with Stop and Search Powers
In response to this brutal assault and another serious attack in the nearby Daisy Dip area, police have activated extra stop and search powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act. These powers allow officers to search anyone in the area without the usual restrictions, aiming to stop further violence. The crackdown will remain in effect until 8am on Friday, October 27.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Acting Inspector Mark Kingston vowed officers are pulling out all the stops. “You can expect to see an increased police presence as we follow every lead,” he said. “Officers will patrol through the night and use all powers available. We understand this violence worries the community, and we’re working hard to keep everyone safe.”
