Birmingham Bears Inspire New Litter of Police Pups!
The latest crop of four-legged crime fighters was born last month, proudly named after Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s T20 stars, the Birmingham Bears.
From Cricket to Crime Fighting
West Midlands Police Dog Unit has a unique bond with local icons – from cricket legends to Harry Potter characters and even biscuits. This time, the pups carry the spirit of the Bears into their police work.
Terry Arnett from the WMP Dog Unit’s Breed Scheme said, “We really value our relationship with Edgbaston. The stadium offers an unbeatable training ground for our dogs to sniff out threats among rows of seats, master stairs, gangways, and entrances.”
Training at Edgbaston – A Winning Partnership
They visit Edgbaston several times a year, always welcomed warmly. “Naming the latest litter after Bears players just made sense, especially knowing many players are dog lovers,” Terry added.
The dog unit boasts an 85% success rate in turning pups into operational police dogs. “We have high hopes for this WCCC litter and will keep the Bears squad and fans updated on their progress,” he said.
How You Can Help Police Puppies
The unit carefully nurtures each pup’s instincts for play and search while introducing them to environments they’ll face on duty.
