Murder Probe Underway After Man Found Dead in Lewisham Flat
Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in Lewisham. Officers were called to Torridon Road, SE6, at around 7am on Wednesday, 16 May after concerned residents reported not seeing the occupant for a while.
Man Found Dead with Suspicious Injuries
Emergency crews forced entry into the flat and found a man dead inside. Formal ID hasn’t been confirmed, but the deceased is believed to be a 54-year-old local man. Initially treated as non-suspicious, the case took a grim turn after medics spotted suspicious injuries during the body’s removal to the mortuary.
Post-Mortem Reveals Multiple Stab Wounds
A special post-mortem held at Greenwich Mortuary on Sunday, 19 May confirmed the cause of death as multiple stab wounds. A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday, 18 May but has since been bailed. He is due to return to the police station in mid-June.
