Police on the Isle of Wight have launched a murder investigation after an elderly man was found dead and his partner left fighting for her life at a cottage in Chillerton.
Emergency Called to Quiet Village Cottage
Emergency services were called to the Berry Shute cottage on Manor Road just after 10.20pm Sunday night, following a tip-off from the couple’s son-in-law.
Officers discovered the 87-year-old man dead inside the home. The 84-year-old woman, believed to be his partner, was in a life-threatening condition. Paramedics rushed her to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, where she remains critically ill.
