Swale Police Crack Down on NYE Chaos with Tough New Orders
Swale cops are armed and ready for New Year’s Eve mayhem. Dispersal orders kick in from 4pm on December 31st until 4pm on January 1st across Sheerness, Sittingbourne, and Faversham. The message? No messing about with crime or antisocial behaviour this New Year.
Where the Police Will Be Watching
- Sheerness: Tesco, Broadway up to Richmond Street junction, High Street including Bridge Road roundabouts.
- Sittingbourne: Town centre covering Retail Park, Dover Street, Avenue of Remembrance to Bell Road by Eurolink Way roundabout.
- Faversham: The zone between the Quay and railway station, bordered by Newtown Road and South Road.
Zero Tolerance on Nuisance and Reckless Riding
Police can order troublemakers to clear off and arrest anyone who returns. Cars and bikes driving dangerously or causing trouble risk being seized. Stop and search powers are boosted too – officers mean business.
“We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors feel safe when out and about and we will not tolerate intimidating or illegal behaviour,” said Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster. “Officers will be patrolling the area and anyone being disorderly or found causing a nuisance will be required to leave. Those who choose to return once dispersed can expect to be detained. We hope everyone has fun tonight and we’re putting these orders in place to make sure all those celebrating have an enjoyable and safe time in our town centres.”
Spot Trouble? Report It Fast
