Nine Snapped Speeding in Medway Towns Blitz
Nine drivers caught speeding face enforcement action after a tough road safety crackdown in Medway. Officers from Kent Police’s Medway Community Safety Unit hit the streets on Thursday 24 September, conducting checks from 10am to 5pm.
Uninsured Car Seized Amid Speeding Offenders
The operation targeted Robin Hood Lane in Walderslade, Hoath Road and surrounding roads in Gillingham and the Medway City Estate. Alongside the speeding tickets, one uninsured vehicle was seized, adding to the haul of offenses.
Speedsters weren’t messing around: the fastest recorded was 52mph in a 30mph zone on Robin Hood Lane. One driver was slapped with a traffic offence report for no insurance, while 35 more motorists were given warnings and advice.
Police Warn Against Reckless Driving
Inspector Steve Bassett said: “The vast majority of motorists in Medway drive in full accordance of the Highway Code but those who don’t endanger other road users and themselves.”
“To keep road users safe, we carry out operations like this throughout the year. These checks were arranged after residents reported specific concerns.”
“We engaged numerous drivers, seized an uninsured car, and took proportionate enforcement action where necessary.”
