Chase Ends with Cannabis Bust after Driver Flees Police

Speeding VW Golf Sparks Hunt

The driver of a VW Golf refused to stop for police and sped off into Shawstead Road. The chase came to an end when the driver abandoned the car on foot and was promptly arrested.

Drugs Tossed from Moving Vehicle

Police later found a stash of cannabis dumped at a roundabout on North Dane Way. Officers suspect the drugs were thrown from the vehicle during the getaway.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Investigating officer PC Hannah Cooper urged anyone who saw the VW Golf on North Dane Way—or spotted a package being thrown from it—to come forward. She said, “Drivers with dashcam footage are especially asked to check their recordings. Your help could be crucial to the investigation.”

Man Released but Under Investigation

A 25-year-old man from Chatham was released pending further inquiries. He faces allegations including drug supply, failing to stop for police, and driving offences.
