Moped Getaway Ends in Knife Arrest in Croydon
At around 11:05am on Tuesday, 29 December, police on patrol spotted a moped acting dodgy on Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath. The rider and passenger took off at speed the moment they saw officers.
Suspect Caught Hiding with Rambo-Style Knife
Officers quickly searched the area and found the pillion passenger—a 19-year-old man—hiding behind a parked car on Boswell Road. A large Rambo-style knife was discovered underneath the vehicle. The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and remains in custody.

“Officers are regularly patrolling areas known for violence and robbery to remove dangerous weapons like this off the streets,” said PC Butler from the South Violence Suppression Unit. “I hope the local community feel reassured by this knife recovery and our proactivity.”
“If anyone has info on weapon carriers or where weapons are hidden, please contact us – it could stop someone from being seriously hurt or killed.”
