Police Shut Down Unlicensed Rave at Broadstairs’ Botany Bay
Officers in Thanet stopped an illegal music bash before it even kicked off on Saturday, 2 August.
Raid at Botany Bay
Acting on tip-offs and neighbourhood complaints, cops swooped on Botany Bay, Broadstairs, in the early evening. They caught a bloke setting up sound gear and told him to clear off immediately.
Throughout the night, officers patrolled the beach. Despite some people being around, no unlicensed party took place.
Chief Inspector Issues Warning
“Thanks to local residents reporting their concerns we were able to act and prevent the event from happening,” said Thanet’s District Commander, Chief Inspector Ed Ruffle.
“Those who try to hold unlicensed music events face criminal charges, risk arrest and the seizure of their equipment.”
“These raves don’t just disrupt communities—they also stretch police resources and endanger others by limiting response to real emergencies.”
“And with Covid-19 still a threat, organising or attending these gatherings is simply irresponsible.”
