Hit-and-Run Horror on Royston Road: Cyclists Struck, Family Devastated

Shortly after 9pm on Friday, January 20, tragedy struck on Royston Road bridge over Cudworth Parkway. Dean Jones, 40, and his 16-year-old son Lewis Daines were cycling when a vehicle smashed into them – then sped off without stopping.

Suspects Arrested in Shocking Hit-and-Run Case

Fast forward to January 31, police have made a breakthrough. A 35-year-old man handed himself in and was arrested on suspicion of murder. Alongside him, two women from Barnsley, aged 30 and 36, were nabbed for allegedly assisting the getaway driver. All three remain in custody as investigations continue.

“This collision has left a family devastated,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, leading the probe. “We’ve made significant progress but still need the public’s help to piece together the full story.”
