Cyclist Seriously Injured in Crash with Renault Clio in Dorset
Dorset Police rushed to a collision on the B3081 near Alderholt on Monday night, March 29, 2021. At around 8.30pm, a silver Renault Clio collided with a cyclist.
Man in 50s Flown to Hospital
The cyclist, a man in his 50s from Ringwood, Hampshire, was taken to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Renault driver, a man in his 30s also from Hampshire, escaped unscathed.
Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Offences
The driver was arrested on the spot and is cooperating with investigators. Dorset Police closed the road to allow emergency crews to work and to carry out a thorough examination of the scene.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward,” said Police Sergeant Lee Savage of the traffic unit. “I would urge any motorists who were travelling in the area and have dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please view it for any relevant footage that may assist my investigation.”
“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience during the road closure, which was absolutely necessary to enable emergency services to attend the scene in a safe manner and provide medical treatment.”
