Elderly Man Brutally Punched in Face After Dog Fight at Colwick Woods

An elderly man was left with a fractured eye socket after being punched during a heated dispute sparked by a dog attack in Colwick Woods Field, Nottinghamshire.

Dog Attack Sparks Violent Clash

The 70-year-old victim’s dog was attacked by another dog, leading to a brief verbal argument with the other owner. The situation quickly turned sour when the pensioner was punched in the face just after noon on 2 March 2023.

A nearby witness walking with her partner saw the punch and immediately called the police.

Man Arrested Following Intensive Probe

Nottinghamshire Police launched a detailed investigation and arrested a 41-year-old man early on 4 May. He is suspected of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent.

“This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on a pensioner and we were determined to find the man responsible and bring him to justice,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Mavers.

“Despite no CCTV in the area, intensive inquiries and witness help led us to a suspect. The arrest is an important step, but the investigation continues.”
