Missing Teen Russel Burrdett-Deakin Sparks Massive Search in Maidstone
Russel Burrdett-Deakin, 17, vanished without a trace from his home near Sutton Road around 6.30pm on Wednesday, 6 September 2023. Since then, police and volunteers have scoured Maidstone, focusing on spots near the River Medway, local parks, footpaths, and public transport hubs.
Official Plea: Maidstone Residents Urged to Help
Detective Chief Inspector Julia Pexton revealed, “We have teams working round the clock alongside Kent Search and Rescue volunteers to find Russel safely. We’re appealing to Maidstone residents to check their gardens, outbuildings, and anywhere he might be hiding.”
She added, “Even a few minutes to look could make all the difference.”
What Russel Looks Like & Where to Look
- Slim build, dark hair with blue highlights when last seen – may have since dyed it black
- Wearing red or maroon bottoms and a red Champion hoodie
- Carrying a black Under Armour rucksack
Visitors to popular spots like Mote Park and Whatman Park are asked to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious.
Community Urged to Report Any Sightings
Det Ch Insp Pexton urged, “Please report any sighting, no matter how small the chance it might be Russel.” She also begged anyone with information to dial 999, quoting incident number 06-1384.
