Four Arrested in Dagenham Murder Probe
Police have made four arrests following the murder of 47-year-old John Avers in Dagenham. Officers, with help from Kent Police, stopped a vehicle on the A2 near Gravesend at around 11.30pm on Friday, 18 September.
Man Held Over Murder, Two Women Released
One man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a north London police station. Two women were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but have since been released under investigation.
Second Man Nabbed in Essex
The next day, Saturday 19 September, a 58-year-old man was arrested in Southend-on-Sea, also on suspicion of murder. He is currently held at a police station in Essex.
Victim’s Family Informed as Police Seek Witnesses
John’s family have been informed. Police were called to a car park on Whalebone Lane South at 11:43pm on Sunday, 13 September, after reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
Paramedics and officers arrived to find John seriously injured. He died at the scene shortly after. A post-mortem revealed he died from multiple injuries.
