Brighton’s Oska Bright Festival Shines a Light on Disabled Filmmakers
Nestled in buzzing Brighton, the Oska Bright Film Festival is a creative powerhouse for filmmakers with learning disabilities and autism. Since launching in 2004, it’s become the world’s top stage for films made by or featuring disabled talent.
From Humble Beginnings to Global Film Celebration
The festival started as a one-day event by a determined group of learning-disabled filmmakers who wanted their stories heard. Fast forward, and it’s now a biennial bash attracting thousands of attendees and entries worldwide.
This Year’s Festival Promises Blockbuster Fun
Running from March 11-17, this year’s festival boasts over 110 films in more than 15 screenings. It kicks off with a lively launch night featuring live music and the uplifting documentary This Is Going To Be Big. The awards night will dish out nine prizes across 14 categories, spotlighting incredible achievements.
More Than Movies – A Movement for Change
The Oska Bright Film Festival isn’t just about cinema. With fewer than 5% of disabled people working in UK film, it’s a bold platform smashing barriers and celebrating untapped talent. This event is a beacon of inclusivity, proving creativity knows no limits.
