Mass Teen Brawl Shuts Down Worthing Party

A teen party in Worthing erupted into chaos on February 23, forcing police into a major showdown. Around 200 teenagers packed Poulters Lane, sparking violence and sending one young man to hospital.

Social Media Fuels Huge Turnout

The gathering grew out of control fast. Most teens found out about the bash via social media, drawing a massive crowd. Sussex Police arrived around 8:30 PM, armed with megaphones to tackle the disorder. With party-goers flooding the streets near West Worthing station, reinforcements including armed cops and dog units were scrambled to restore order.

Serious Assault Rocks the Night

Things turned ugly when an 18-year-old was violently attacked around 10:30 PM on South Street, Tarring, close to the station. His injuries required hospital treatment. Sussex Police launched an active investigation to catch the culprit behind the assault.

Police Crack Down With Dispersal Order

“Police were called to reports of a group of around 100 to 200 people causing anti-social behaviour following a party at an address in Poulters Lane, Worthing at 8.30pm on Friday, February 23. Officers were quickly on scene and a Section 34 Dispersal Order was authorised, giving officers and designated police staff the power to disperse individuals behaving in an anti-social manner,” a police spokesperson said.

“The party was dispersed, and the area was cleared. Following the incident, police received a report of an 18-year-old man who was assaulted at around 10.30pm in South Street, Tarring. As a result of his injuries, he was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect.”

Two people were detained at the scene but released without charges. The incident has sparked fresh debate over youth gatherings and social media’s role in fuelling mayhem.
