Brutal Lidl Attack: Security Guard Left Unconscious After Shoplifting Scuffle
Three men fled Lidl on Elettra Avenue into a waiting taxi after an alleged shoplifting incident turned violent just before 8pm on Friday, January 22.
A 40-year-old security guard tried to stop the suspects but was viciously attacked. The main assailant knocked him unconscious and pummeled his head and face while he lay on the floor, leaving him with serious injuries to his mouth and face.
Heroic Staff Member Also Assaulted
When a 41-year-old Lidl staff member rushed to help, he too was punched before the attackers made their escape.
Police Hunting Three White Male Suspects
The suspects are all white men described as follows:
- Man 1 (Attacker): About 5ft 4, aged 20-25, light facial hair, brown hair. Wearing blue “quilted” jacket, dark jeans, white trainers.
- Man 2: Around 6ft 1, aged 30-35, stocky build, dark cropped hair. Dressed in a dark jacket, green/khaki jumper, light blue jeans, white Adidas trainers, and carrying a white carrier bag.
- Man 3: About 5ft 9, aged 35-40, short grey cropped hair, slim build. In a dark blue jacket, dark jeans, and brown boots.

Investigation Underway as Victim Recovers in Hospital
The security guard is currently receiving treatment at Queen Alexandra Hospital. A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack.
