Shocking Bike Theft and Assault Near Gosport Ferry Terminal
Police are hunting for witnesses after a teenage boy was attacked and robbed of his bike in Gosport.
Teen Attacked and Chased After Trying to Retrieve Stolen Bike
At about 7.30pm on Monday, 4 February, a 15-year-old was by the Gosport ferry terminal when a boy tried to snatch his push bike. The victim fought back, but then a second boy appeared from the ferry terminal and punched him.
Fearing for his safety, the boy ran off, only to be chased by the two youths. The chase ended outside Ellys 1 Store on South Street, where the victim was pushed over some shop signage before fleeing to Nelsons bar and calling police.
Police Appeal for Dashcam and Witnesses
Police Staff Investigator Victoria Lovelock urged anyone who saw the incident or who may have dashcam footage—especially taxi drivers—to come forward. She added:
“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered a bike by two youths in the area last Monday.”
The two suspects fled the scene—one on foot, the other on the stolen bike.
Two Teenagers Arrested but Released Pending Further Inquiry
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, from portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They have since been released but remain under investigation.
