Motorcyclist Dies After Horror Crash on A127

A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A127 Southend Arterial Road, police have confirmed. The crash, involving a motorcycle and a car, happened just after the Hall Lane interchange on the eastbound carriageway at 9am on Wednesday, 3 July.

Driver Stopped, No Arrest

The car’s driver, a 39-year-old woman, stopped at the scene and was not arrested. The motorcyclist, identified as 50-year-old Colin Chapman from Harold Wood, Romford, was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly died on the evening of Saturday, 6 July.

Police Hunt Key Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage

Detective Constable Darren Case from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry. He says:

“We’re piecing together the events that led to this tragic collision. We urgently need to speak to the occupants of two vehicles – described as a white van and a black car – that were behind Mr Chapman’s motorcycle and witnessed the incident.”
