Tragic Crash at Tetney Lock Claims Two Lives
Police are hunting witnesses after a fatal crash in Tetney Lock left two dead. The heartbreaking accident happened yesterday afternoon when a blue Mercedes 300 veered off the road and plunged into water at Tetney Lock Road.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
At 1.33pm on 6 January, emergency services, including police, firefighters from 1 Fire and Rescue, and ambulance crews, were scrambled to the scene. Humberside Police also offered support. Sadly, a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man inside the car were pronounced dead on arrival. Their families have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Road Closures and Witness Appeal
Authorities shut Tetney Lock Road at its junctions with Hoop End and New Delights while investigations and recovery efforts took place. The road reopened just before 3am this morning.
Police are urgently asking anyone with information to come forward. They want to hear from anyone who saw the Mercedes before the crash or who captured dashcam footage of the incident or the vehicle driving near Laceby crossroads, Grimsby, and surrounding areas between 12.30pm and 1.33pm on 6 January.
While no other vehicles are believed to have been involved, officers remain open-minded as the probe continues.
