Man Brutally Assaulted with Glass Bottle After Football Match

A man in his 50s was viciously attacked by three men on Lower Bannister Street late Wednesday night (2 March) between 11:10pm and 11:30pm. The attackers used a glass bottle, which was later recovered broken at the scene.

Attackers Described as Young White Males

  • One man: white, in his 20s, around 6ft tall, stocky build
  • The other two: white, in their 20s, slim build

Victim Suffers Severe Injuries

The victim sustained serious wounds including a fractured skull and a brain bleed. Police believe the attackers had also been at the Yates pub in Above Bar Street.

Rebecca Stevens from Western Investigations said: “Prior to this incident, the victim attended the southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton vs West Ham United football match and then visited the Yates pub in Above Bar Street. “We believe those involved in the incident had also been at this pub. “If you have any information that can help us identify these three men, please contact us.”
