Portsmouth Police Arrest Man After Suspicious Behaviour Towards Schoolgirl

Police in Portsmouth swooped today after a 41-year-old man was caught following a 14-year-old girl near Kent Road. The incident happened just before 4pm as the girl walked home from Portsmouth High School for Girls in Southsea.

The man repeatedly tried to stop and talk to her, but quick-thinking passers-by spotted his behaviour and called 999 at 3.53pm. Officers arrested the suspect, who is now in custody.

Another Girl Followed Days Earlier

This is not an isolated case. On Monday, October 3, a 15-year-old girl also reported being followed while walking home from the same school. She notified her parents immediately after arriving home.

Both incidents are under urgent investigation as police work hard to protect local students.

Reassurance Patrols and Safety Advice

Authorities are teaming up with school staff to keep students safe. Reassurance patrols will be increased around school finishing times in the coming days.

Police urge parents and teens to stay alert but not alarmed. Anyone spotting suspicious activity should report it to 101 or dial 999 in emergencies.
