Police in Portsmouth have arrested a 15-year-old boy after a shocking video showed him sucker punching an innocent ginger cat with full force. The brutal attack, captured on Snapchat, has sparked outrage across social media.
Shocking Video Shows Teen Punching Cat
The disturbing footage shows the yob lurking near a garden wall where the ginger cat was resting. Out of nowhere, he lands a single, powerful sucker punch on the poor animal. A group of friends laugh and film the vile assault, which quickly racked up thousands of views since it was posted on Saturday afternoon.
Cat Injured but Recovering
The cat was sent flying off the wall into a nearby garden but is thankfully understood to be recovering from its ordeal. Local residents have since called for justice, flooding Facebook and Twitter with posts demanding the culprit be named and shamed.
Police and RSPCA Launch Investigation
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they have arrested a 15-year-old boy from the area on suspicion of offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Officers have arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. He’s currently in police custody. Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 101, ref 44190180705.”
The RSPCA has urged anyone with further details to come forward and assist the investigation.
