East London Terror Arrest: Man Held Over Terror Funding
Counter Terror Cops Make Early Morning Bust
Detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command swooped on a 27-year-old man in east London at 6.25am on Tuesday, 23 June. He was arrested on suspicion of arranging funds for terrorism, a serious offence under section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Police Raid and Search Underway
Following the arrest, officers launched a search of a nearby east London address. The man was taken into custody at a local police station, where he remains detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
Investigation Ongoing
Met Police have confirmed that enquiries are still ongoing as the counter terrorism unit works to piece together the investigation.
