Officers searching for missing Leicester teen Lily Higgins have found a body believed to be hers. The 18-year-old disappeared from her Torridon Close home last Wednesday afternoon. While formal ID checks are ongoing, police have informed Lily’s devastated family, who are now getting specialist support.
Lily Vanishes Leaving Phone and Bank Card Behind
Lily left her house at 2.30pm but never came home. She was reported missing that evening. Mum Joanna Swindin said Lily was “smart and witty” but left her phone and bank card behind, making it unlikely she planned to meet anyone.
Family Desperate for Answers
“Recently she got upset very easily and we can’t think of anywhere she would go. Family, friends and police have been searching through the night. Lily is so smart and witty. Lily is a very sceptical person, so I doubt she would meet up with someone. She avoids public transport and social situations. She likes routine. All the neighbours know she leaves at exactly the same time every day for her walks. She eats at the same time and showers at the same time. She’s not a very social girl but has a heart of gold.” — Joanna Swindin, Lily’s mother
Community on Edge as Police Probe Continues
Friends describe Lily as vulnerable. Police urged the public to report any sightings. At this stage, they do not treat the death as suspicious but investigations continue.
This tragic discovery has rocked Leicester. The community is rallying behind the Higgins family in their darkest hour.
