Blaze Erupts at Forest Gate Police Station
A huge fire has ripped through Forest Gate Police Station in East London, sparking a major emergency response. Flames tore through part of the building on Romford Road, with 15 fire engines and around 125 firefighters battling the inferno.
Flames Threaten Roof, Smoke Clouds Surrounding Area
Witnesses saw flames licking close to the roof, raising fears the structure might collapse. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. But thick smoke is blanketing the area, prompting police to warn locals to keep windows and doors shut as a safety precaution.
Firefighters Rush to Scene, Roads Shut Down
The London Fire Brigade was called at 4:17pm. Crews from Stratford, Leytonstone, Plaistow and nearby stations scrambled to tackle the blaze. Authorities have closed roads nearby and urged the public to stay clear until the fire is under control.
A fire brigade spokesperson said, “The cause of the fire is not yet known.”
Fire Spreads to Nearby Closed Pub
Smoke continues to pour from the station as anxious residents gather behind cordons. The fire has also jumped to an adjacent property — an old pub that’s been shuttered for over 10 years.
Fire investigators will begin probe once the building is safe. So far, police are not treating the fire as suspicious.
