Time Extended to Quiz Two Women Over Portsmouth Murder
Police probing the murder of a woman in Portsmouth have been given an extra 36 hours to question two suspects. The grim discovery was made late on Saturday, January 28.
Victim Found Dead at Toronto Road Home
Officers rushed to a house on Toronto Road at 11.58pm after an injured woman was found inside. Tragically, the 36-year-old victim died at the scene.
Two Women Arrested Over Deadly Incident
A 43-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman faces charges of assisting an offender. Both are from Portsmouth and remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
Detective Inspector Simon Baker said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Toronto Road on Saturday night who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward and speak to us. If you have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please speak to us and tell us what you know.”
Specialist liaison officers are supporting the victim’s family, while detectives comb through CCTV footage and conduct house-to-house enquiries. Searches are ongoing in the area.
