Drone Drama at Aintree Festival: Three Arrested
During the Aintree Festival on Thursday 9th April, Merseyside Police teamed up with Crowded Space Drones and the NPCC Counter Drone Team to keep a sharp eye on drone activity around the racecourse.
Three Men Nabbed Over Drone Offences
Officers swooped on Red Rum Close in Aintree, arresting a pilot and two spotters, aged 54, 52, and 35, on suspicion of breaking the Air Navigation Order. The drone was seized on the spot.
Cash Haul Adds to Suspicion
A search of a vehicle linked to one of the men uncovered a large haul of cash, now held by police as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Drone Use
Chief Superintendent Paul White said: “We have a team of officers and partners monitoring drone activity around Aintree racecourse to catch any offenders.
“This time, we spotted breaches that led to the arrests and seizure of the drone. Merseyside Police will keep fighting illegal drone use to protect our communities.”
Information from the incident has been passed to the Civil Aviation Authority for further action. Stay tuned as police step up efforts to tackle drone trouble at major events.
