Teen murder shock in Laindon: Five teens held after man stabbed to death
Man in his 30s fatally stabbed
Police are deepening their probe after a man in his 30s was found stabbed dead in Iris Mews, Laindon, on Sunday evening. He was discovered shortly after 9.30pm on 2 May but died despite emergency tries to save him. A post mortem is due today.
Five teenagers in custody
Since the grim discovery, cops have arrested five teenagers on suspicion of murder, all now held in custody. Investigators have worked nonstop through the night to piece together what sparked the deadly attack.
Victim ‘came to aid of another man’
Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Jennings, from Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “Our enquiries have led us to believe the victim was going to the aid of another man and, as a result, he lost his life during an altercation which ensued with a group of young people not directly known to him.
“It is a tragic loss of life and we are continuing to appeal for the public’s help.”
Call for witnesses and info
Police urge anyone who was near Iris Mews just before 9.30pm Sunday to come forward. They want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything, or spotted discarded weapons in the area.
There will be increased police presence in Laindon for the coming days. Officers are encouraging anyone with information to speak up.
