Young Woman Shot Dead in Liverpool Backyard
Ashley Dale, 28, was found critically wounded in a Liverpool garden just after midnight on Sunday. Despite urgent medical care at the scene and hospital treatment, she later died from a single gunshot wound.
Tragic Mistaken Target?
The Home Office post-mortem confirmed Ashley’s cause of death as a single bullet wound. Police believe she was not the intended target. Ashley, a Knowsley Council environmental health worker and university graduate, was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
CCTV Shows Car Arrived Minutes Before Shooting
Cameras caught a car pulling onto Leinster Road around 12.30am, about ten minutes before Ashley was found. Merseyside Police are keen to hear from the driver, passengers, or any pedestrians nearby who might hold vital clues.
“Our officers are working round the clock to investigate this appalling incident that tragically resulted in the death of a young woman,” said Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings. “If you were on Leinster Road or Prescot Road between 12.20 and 12.40am, please come forward.”
Boxing Match Crowd Could Hold Key Witnesses
The shooting happened just after Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight title loss to Oleksandr Usyk, when the area was busy with people heading home or into town. Police urge anyone who saw or heard anything – including taxi and delivery drivers with dashcam footage – to get in touch.
