Sex Attack on Hackney Bus Sparks Urgent Police Hunt

Detectives have launched a probe after a woman was sexually assaulted on a Hackney bus. Police want to speak to a man they believe is responsible.

Chilling Attack on 243 Bus

At around 2.50am on Sunday, 31 May, police were called to Stoke Newington Road after a bus driver alerted them to a sexual assault. The victim was travelling from Waterloo to Wood Green on the 243 bus.

A man boarded the bus in Dalston and started chatting with the victim. She later fell asleep, only to wake up and find him sexually assaulting her. When she confronted him, the suspect got up and left the bus. The victim then reported the incident to the driver.

Police Hunt ‘Irish Accent’ Suspect

The suspect is described as:

  • White male, 55-59 years old
  • About 5’6” tall
  • Stocky build with short grey hair and a thick grey beard
  • Wearing blue jeans and a red top
  • Spoke with an Irish accent

The victim is now receiving specialist support.

Detective Pleads for Public Help

Detective Sergeant Adam Knott said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim. To wake up to a serious sexual assault is traumatic. We must find this man and bring him to justice. If you recognise him, please come forward.”
